History of Hockers Brick & Tile
“Solid As A Brick For 150 Years”
Established in 1869, Hockers Brick & Tile Co., Inc is the oldest business operating in the Village of Ashwaubenon. The Hockers family opened the doors in 1869 and manufactured their own brick until 1962. At that point they decided they wanted to offer more of a variety in brick colors and textures to customers, so they began bringing in brick and clay pavers from all over the United States. The company also expanded into carrying ceramic floor and wall tile. In 1976 Hockers Sawmill was opened producing custom mantels, along with sawing logs into boards for customers. In 1982 a complete stone shop was added on the property. The stone shop produces high quality window sills, hearth stones, address stones and beautiful custom stone orders. In addition to the complete line of bricks, pavers, stone and tile, Hockers carried full masonry fireplaces. As the fireplace industry changed and grew, so did the product line at Hockers Brick. Hockers offers all types of gas and wood burning fireplaces along with the most up to date technology of corn and wood pellet burning stoves. In 1995 Hockers expanded its service department to include the complete installation of fireplaces. Throughout its long history, Hockers has been an integral part of the community, supporting numerous local clubs and organizations including the Ashwaubenon Business Association, Chamber of Commerce, Children’s Hospital and Cerebral Palsy. As well as sponsoring the Masonry Technical Education Program. Hockers Brick & Tile is active in the Brown County and Man-Cal Home Builders Associations. Hockers Brick & Tile Co. is still family owned by a fifth generation of the Hockers family, and is located on the same piece of property that it originated on; 2870 S. Broadway in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It is obvious that Hockers Brick stands out from its competitors when it comes to quality products, and years of knowledge.
